Our Mission

Our mission is to raise the standard of education in Israel by empowering a generation of young women and girls to become the inspired leaders of tomorrow.

Our Vision

To reach our mission, we are building an innovative educational system. Our model schools provide students grades 1 through 12 with a superior learning experience of exploration and self discovery. We foster an environment where each student is encouraged and supported to identify her innermost voice and truly unique self. We are creating a culture that inspires excellence and promotes personal integration of what we study with who we are. Our staff has vast and deep experience and knowledge about their subject matter as well as being deeply invested in their students’ wellbeing and success. Propelled by this wealth of resources, our students are empowered to serve society and become the leaders of tomorrow.

Our Promise

The Tamar Network for Education and Leadership will raise the standards in the educational sector throughout Israel. Our leading edge model schools will establish precedents for other early adopters to replicate in their own institutions. Our students, armed with the confidence, tools and skills they gained from their learning experience with us, will go out into the world as empowered leaders and positively impact their families, communities, and the larger society. By preparing a new generation for inspired leadership and resourcing and training fellow educators to do the same in their own institutions across the country, The Tamar Network for Education and Leadership will generate a powerful momentum and groundswell of positive impact and transformation in Israel.

Tamar Network for Education and Leadership celebrates the life and virtues of Geraldine “Gerry” Steinberg.

Born in 1925, Gerry Steinberg was a woman of valor, a community activist, and an advocate for the underserved.

Her presence always regal, she accorded honor and respect to every human being with whom she came in contact.

As a pioneer and role model, Gerry was one of the first women to graduate Stanford Law School alongside Sandra Day O’Connor, who is best known as the first female Supreme Court justice.

Gerry was a master peacemaker and mediator, resolving differences and creating collaboration among the involved parties.

As a high level public servant and environmentalist, the Honorable Santa Clara County Supervisor Gerry Steinberg led the effort to create the master plan for the then developing Silicon Valley, today one of the world’s leading economic engines.

In her role as the founder of the East Palo Alto Community Law Project, Gerry was selfless and used her legal talents to advocate on behalf of the underserved minority populations in the area.

Gerry was an early and active supporter of the activities of Tamar Network for Education and Leadership in Israel. In fact, it is her influence that planted the seeds for what the organization is today.

Tamar Network for Education and Leadership is named in tribute to Gerry Steinberg and her Hebrew name, Tamar.
